HORSE/PONY

Hooves / Whiskers / Body Condition - Hooves should be picked out and tidy (not overgrown).  Shod with uneven numbers on hooves are not permitted.  Loose or risen clenches are not permitted.  Hoof boots are allowed.  Trimmed whiskers are not permitted.  Horse/pony must be in good condition not showing any sign of illness or injury/lameness.

Saddlery / Tack -   Please refer to the Pony Club WA Gear Checking Rules for a complete listing of what is and is not permitted at Rallies.  The following is simplified and general.

  1. Bridle - Must fit and stitching should be in tact.  Keepers and runners must be in place.  Should be clean and supple. Must have a permitted bit suitably to the activity being performed (dressage/jumping). Nosebands must be fitted correctly.  Reins should be a safe length and grass reins must be fitted correctly if used.  Buckles and stitching must be in tact and safe.
  2. Saddle Blanket - Club saddle blanket or a white saddle blanket without large logos or decorative enhancements. Must be clean and fit properly (not short ending under cantle saddle pads).
  3. Numnahs / Gel Pad - can be used but must be a correct fit.
  4. Saddle - must fit and be clean.  Stirrup Bar should be down, Stitching and turnings must be in good condition. Stirrup irons must be the correct size for rider foot. Toe stoppers must be correct size/fit. Girth should be attached correctly and girth straps stitching and leather condition must be in good condition and safe.
  5. Martingale / Breast Plate / Crupper - Martingale must fit correctly and have stoppers. Breast plates and Cruppers must fit and be clean.
  6. Boots - Bell boots, exercise boots, jumping boots are permitted.  If you are using Bandages they must be correctly fitted and STITCHED (not Velcro or taped)
  7. Leadline Saddlery - Bridle - noseband is not recommended.  Head Collar - to be worn under the bridle with lead rein attached to the Head Collar.  Snaffle bits only, no Kimblewick or Pelham bits allowed.
